V. Jane Schneeloch

Jane was born in Springfield, Massachusetts shortly before VJ Day—which had little to do with her arrival. As soon as she learned to form letters, she began writing. Her earliest poems have been lost save for one which rhymes “canary” and “January,” and that one has been well hidden. As a teenager most of her poetry centered around unrequited love, an experience she thought unique to her.

Jane graduated from Westfield State University with a degree in English and began teaching at East Hartford High School in the fall of 1967. For 35 years she taught various English classes including poetry. She also worked with students on the literary magazine.

Since retirement she has worked as office manager for the Drama Studio in Springfield. Certified in the Amherst Writers and Artists Method, she has facilitated writing groups for youth, senior citizens, and incarcerated women. Her most recent collection, Dancing With the Leaves,  was published by Antrim House Books in 2015. Her chapbook Climbing to the Moon: Poetry Inspired by the Art of Georgia O'Keeffe was published by Finishing Line Press in 2009. Her poetry has been published in a variety of journalsHer plays In Hiding and The Test were produced in at the Drama Studio.
